God of War: B is for Boy
Andrea Robinson, Romina Tempest · 2020
A picture book in which Kratos teaches young Atreus the alphabet, one letter at a time, using words from their world and lessons from his own mistakes. Romina Tempest's illustrations turn the grim father and his son into characters from a children's storybook, and it runs to 32 pages.
What this adds if you've played the games
It's a joke book, and more of a gift than a read. The humor comes from the gap between a children's alphabet primer and Kratos's terse, grim parenting, with entries taken from the 2018 game. You'll finish it in ten minutes and learn nothing new about the story. It's funnier the better you know the game, and it's not meant to fit the games' continuity.
Where it fits
- Ties intoGod of War
A parody built on the 2018 game's father and son and the places they pass through. It's written for people who've finished the game, so play that first.
