Santa Monica Studio is Sony Interactive Entertainment's studio in Los Angeles, and God of War is the series it's known for. It made the original Greek trilogy on the PS2 and PS3, Ascension, and the Norse reboot that started with God of War (2018), followed by Ragnarök and its Valhalla epilogue. It also co-developed Chains of Olympus with Ready at Dawn, and it worked with Mega Cat Studios on Sons of Sparta.
If you're coming to the series fresh, the 2018 game is the easiest way in. It stands on its own, and the Greek games are there afterward if you want the full story of Kratos.
