Carta dwarves come after Hawke with a grudge against the Hawke bloodline, and the trail leads to an ancient Grey Warden prison in the Vimmark Mountains. Hawke's late father, Malcolm, turns out to have had a hand in what's sealed inside, and the family's history with the Wardens comes to the surface. It's a self-contained dungeon with a story of its own, separate from the main plot.

A side story that fits into Hawke's years in Kirkwall. It doesn't give away the main plot, though most people play it after finishing the game.
- Ties intoDragon Age: Inquisition
What Hawke finds in the prison comes back in a big way in Inquisition, which gives away Legacy's surprise. Play Legacy first.
