Fly, Arlene and the other survivors are holding out in Hawaii, one of the last human strongholds on Earth. Then a message arrives from aliens who claim to be on humanity's side, and Fly is sent off-world to find out whether they're telling the truth, and what they want in return.

What this adds if you've played the games

This is where the series leaves Doom behind. The story turns into a much bigger science fiction war of its own, and almost nothing on the page comes from the games beyond Fly, Arlene and a few familiar monsters. Reader reviews are split, and several say it gets less coherent as it goes. If you're reading for Doom, stop after Hell on Earth.

Where it fits

  • Read afterDoom: Hell on Earth

Continues from the end of Hell on Earth, with the survivors holed up in Hawaii. It gives away how the second book ends, so read that one first.

  • Comes beforeDoom: Endgame

Picks up straight after Infernal Sky and finishes the four-book story. Its setup depends on how book three ends, so read the four in order.
