After his parents' divorce, Pete takes his anger out on his little brother Chuck, and drags him into the back room of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza where an old Foxy still sits. Kasey, living on the streets, steals a pair of strange novelty glasses. Samantha and her older sister Susie try to stay close after a terrible loss. The epilogue follows Larson further in.

What this adds if you've played the games

The first Fazbear Frights book with real weight for the games. 'Step Closer' is an older brother tormenting a younger one with Foxy, which will ring a bell after Five Nights at Freddy's 4. 'Coming Home' gives Susie, one of the children lost at Freddy's, a story of her own, told from a side the games only hint at. It's a sad one rather than a scary one, and the best thing in the first half of the series.

Where it fits

  • Background forFive Nights at Freddy's 4

'Step Closer' and 'Coming Home' revisit the 1980s Freddy's of the fourth game's minigames from new angles. Neither spoils the other; the game lands better first.

  • Read afterFazbear Frights: 1:35AM

Larson's case takes a big step in this epilogue, following on from 1:35AM's. The standalone stories don't care about order, but the epilogue does.

  • Comes beforeFazbear Frights: Bunny Call

Its epilogue continues from Step Closer's, where Jake joined Larson's story. Read Step Closer first.
