Scott Cawthon

Scott Cawthon is the American developer who created Five Nights at Freddy's. He'd mostly made small Christian-themed games before 2014, when criticism that the characters in Chipper & Sons Lumber Co. looked like scary animatronics gave him the idea for a horror game. He built the first seven FNaF games largely by himself, then worked with Steel Wool Studios from Help Wanted on, and stepped back from running the series in 2021.

He's credited on every FNaF book: the Silver Eyes trilogy with Kira Breed-Wrisley, and the Fazbear Frights, Tales from the Pizzaplex and interactive novels with a rotating group of co-writers. Play the first game, then try Bunny Call or The Silver Eyes.
