Richard A. Knaak

Richard A. Knaak is a fantasy author best known for his Warcraft novels, which flesh out the history and characters of Azeroth. His books include Day of the Dragon, the War of the Ancients trilogy, Night of the Dragon, Stormrage, Wolfheart, and Dawn of the Aspects. He also wrote The Sunwell Trilogy comics.

If you're coming from the games, start with Day of the Dragon. It introduces the dragon aspects and the mage Rhonin, and it sets up much of the lore that later books build on.
